FOCUS AND SCOPE

The Caritas Journal of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (CJMSSH) is an open access, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal, anchored on a philosophy of academic excellence through proper and effective dissemination of output of development studies. The mission is to be one of the most referenced Journals by scholars and professionals in the field of Development Studies. In achieving this, the Journal will:

(a.)  Serve outlets for scholar and practitioners involved in research at both theoretical and empirical levels towards challenging current thinking ad proffering new solutions to problems of the society.

(b.)  Help to promote cross-fertilization of ideas among scholars and practitioners with a view to enriching the standard of practice and elevating scholarship.

(c.)  Serve as a major source for coverage of global policy issues, thereby contributing to not only re-engineering the society, but also bridging the gap between town and gown.

(d.)  Serve as a forum for disseminating information on conferences and seminars in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.

(e.)   Focus on issues of economic and business issues such as economic growth and development, international trade, youth unrest, accounting standards, relevant interdisciplinary discuss and other economic and business related contemporary issues etc.

(f.) Focus on issues of human behaviour, behaviour modifications, clinical and forensic analysis, social and interpersonal relationships, attitude, inter-group relations, gender studies, demography, social work and all behavioural sciences.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Manuscripts submitted to the Caritas Journal of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (CJMSSH) will generally be blind reviewed by set senior academics in the relevant fields’ usually two set of reviewers, and those that satisfy the assessment of the editorial board peer review process will be published subject to the authors consent and requirements of the Journal.

The Caritas Journal of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (CJMSSH) aims for very fast publication and will endeavor to reach a first decision within the first four weeks of submission.  The time line for review will usually be a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks for final decision.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

ETHICS AND MISCONDUCTS

Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Editors of Caritas Journal of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (CJMSSH) strictly ensure that all research must have been carried out within an appropriate ethical framework. If there is suspicion that the work has not taken place within an appropriate ethical framework, Editors will follow the misconduct policy and may reject the manuscript, and/or contact the author(s), institution or ethics committee. On rare occasions, if the Editor has serious concerns about the ethics of a study, the manuscript may be rejected on ethical grounds.

Confidentiality: Editors will treat all manuscripts submitted to all CJMSSH Journals in confidence. Reviewers are also required to treat manuscripts confidentially. CJMSSH will not share manuscripts with third parties outside of CJMSSH, except in cases of suspected misconduct. Manuscripts may be shared with other Editors of CJMSSH, unless authors indicate on submission that they do not wish their manuscript to be passed on beyond the journal they submitted to.

Consent: For all research involving human subjects, informed consent to participate in the study should be obtained from participants (or their parent or guardian in the case of children under 18) and a statement to this effect should appear in the manuscript.

Misconduct: CJMSSH takes seriously all allegations of potential misconduct. As members of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), all Caritas University Journals (CUJ) will follow COPE guidelines outlining how to deal with cases of suspected misconduct. In cases of suspected research or publication misconduct, it may be necessary for Editors to contact and share manuscripts with third parties, for example, author(s)’ institution(s) and ethics Committee(s). CUJ may also seek advice from COPE and discuss anonymized cases in the COPE forum.

Research Misconduct: All research must be carried out within an appropriate ethical framework. If there is suspicion that research has not taken place within an appropriate ethical framework, Editors may reject a manuscript and may inform third parties, for example, author(s)’ institution(s) and ethics Committee(s). In cases of proven research misconduct involving published articles, such articles may be retracted.

Publication misconduct: As members of COPE, all CU journals will follow COPE guidelines outlining how to deal with cases of potential publication misconduct.

Plagiarism: CUJ is a member of Crosscheck’s plagiarism detection initiative and uses plagiarism detection software. If plagiarism is identified, COPE guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.
